About me
I’m Michal. As Founder, Chair and Executive Director of Muirhouse and Flemington Community Group, I provide senior leadership for our work across Muirhouse, Flemington and the wider Motherwell area.

As Founder, I established the Group and continue to shape its long-term vision — building an organisation that people across Muirhouse, Flemington and greater Motherwell can trust, take part in, and help lead.

As Chair, I lead the Board of Directors. I oversee governance, accountability and strategic direction, and make sure the Board and senior management stay aligned on purpose, values and where we are heading next.

As Executive Director, I hold overall responsibility for the organisation: directing management from above, setting priorities, and ensuring programmes, partnerships and operations deliver for our communities. I stay close to the work on the ground so strategy and delivery stay connected — never from a distance that loses sight of the people we serve across Muirhouse, Flemington and Motherwell as a whole.

Austin Lamont

Director – Head of Volunteer Services

About me
I’m Austin. I’m a Director of Muirhouse and Flemington Community Group, and I also lead Volunteer Services. Together those roles mean I’m part of directing the organisation as a whole, and accountable for how volunteering supports our work across Muirhouse, Flemington and the greater Motherwell area.

As a Director, I share responsibility for running and directing the organisation. That includes helping set strategy and long-term direction, overseeing finances and resources, managing risk, and making sure decisions are taken in the best interests of the Group and the communities we serve across Muirhouse, Flemington and Motherwell as a whole.

As Head of Volunteer Services, I lead volunteering across the Group.

I set the strategy and make sure it actually happens on the ground: growing and widening our volunteer base, shaping roles the organisation needs, and putting in place the policies, standards, safeguarding and risk processes that keep it safe and consistent. That also covers recruitment, retention, training, recognition, and making sure volunteering is properly resourced and measured.

I lead the volunteering team, work with colleagues so volunteers strengthen every programme, and speak for volunteering at senior level. The aim is simple: make it easy for people in Motherwell and the wider area to get involved, and give them a reason to stay.
